This is a layman's guide to the laws of the time for women and children. Some pretty telling stuff
about the times, including Maternity Boarding Houses (whatever that is!) and occupations that women
are prevented
from engaging in - like mining. There's also a lengthy description of children protection as it
relates to labour particularly in terms of the hours businesses may remain open. And there's some
special references to things like bakeshops and barber shops.
