The Slave in Canada, T. Watson Smith, 1899
This book is actually a publication of the Nova Scotia Historical Society so the first
few pages contain details on their society. The bulk of the book however deals in depth
with the history of slaves in Canada. It's a very factual, unemotional account with plenty of source references.
While today we would assume that slaves were black, there's some details in the book that show that some early
Canadians also kept Indians as slaves. These Indian slaves were known as Panis.
